Born in 1991, Damien Bachmann is a swiss clarinetist.
He studied with the internationally renowned teachers François Benda in Basel, Harri Mäki in the Sibelius Academy of Helsinki and Michel Westphal in Geneva. As a source of inspiration he took part in master classes with Andreas Sunden, Thomas Friedli, Wenzel Fuchs, Bernhard Röthlisberger, Lorenzo Coppola, Kilian Herold, Paolo Beltramini.
Damien Bachmann received several prizes and special awards in national and international competitions include the 1st prize and two special prizes of the « 15th Gheorghe Dima Clarinet Competition » in 2015, the 1st prize of the « 1st Béla Kovács International clarinet competition », the 1st prize of the « 38th Concours National d’Exécution Musicale » in Switzerland, the 1st prize and the special Public Award of the « 10th Concours National du Jura », the 3rd prize of the « 10th Concorso internazionale per clarinetto di Carlino », the 3rd prize of the « 1st Czech Clarinet Art Competition ». He’s supported by the « Friedl-Wald » Foundation, the « Marescotti » Foundation and received in 2013 in Zürich the Prize of the « Pour-cent culturel Migros ». He’s first prize winner 2014 of the Evamaria Schenk Stiftung from Zofingen (CH). In June 2015, he won the highest chamber music prize of the Dienemann Music Foundation in Lucerne (CH) and in 2016 he won the prestigious « Basler Förderpreis » (1st prize) of the BOG Foundation in Basel (CH). He’s supported by the Hischmann Stiftung from Zürich.
He played as soloist with the Sinfonie Orchester Basel, the Zürcher Kammerorchester, the National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia, the Argovia Philarmonic and with the Aviv Quartet, Casal Quartet, Quatuor Terpsycordes, Gerhard Quartet, Quatuor de Genève and pianists Fazil Say or Christian Chamorel.
Damien Bachmann achieved an internship with the Berner Symphonie Orchester in june 2017 and plays as guest in the Orchestre de Chambre de Genève, the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana or in the Sinfonie Orchester Basel.
